Jay Nurney started Nurney Landscape & Design in March of 1987 with the idea that it would help pay his way through college. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ornamental Horticulture, he decided to continue and expand the business.
35 years later, Nurney Landscape & Design, Inc. has grown into a company whose focus is to meet with new & existing clients to determine their landscape needs and develop solutions to their landscape problems. Jay’s dedication and passion for the outdoors, coupled with a unique respect for outstanding design, is what has allowed Nurney Landscape & Design to grow and flourish.

We follow a clear step-by-step process, so you’re never left wondering what’s happening.
Fill out the online form to get started. Once we receive your request, we’ll reach back out within 48 hours for a quick 15-minute call.
You’ll hop on a short call with our expert landscape consultants to discuss your goals, general budget, and whether we’re the right fit for your needs. Should we move forward, we’ll get you scheduled for an On-Site Consultation.
You’ll receive a calendar invite and information ahead of the On-Site Consultation. During this 60-minute meeting, we’ll walk your property, review ideas, assess grading and drainage, and if needed talk about the design investment (typically $750–$1200). You’ll leave with a clear understanding of what’s next.
Our team prepares a detailed plan that covers layout, materials, assistance with permits, and potential challenges along with solutions. We’ll review everything together, and if you decide to move forward, the design fee is credited toward your project.
Once the proposal is approved, you’ll make a deposit (40–50% for construction, one-month for maintenance) to get on the schedule. We’ll confirm the timing and introduce your project or account manager.
About two weeks before your project begins, your dedicated manager will reach out to review what to expect, walk through the schedule, and make sure everyone’s ready. For maintenance clients, your dedicated account manager will coordinate your start and care plan.
Work begins with small, professional crews who respect your property and keep you updated throughout. Payments are spread across milestones so you stay in control. We stay accessible and flexible if anything needs adjusting.
At the end, we walk the property with you, make any final adjustments, and collect the last payment. We’ll recommend maintenance plans to keep your investment thriving and make sure you’re ready to enjoy your property for years to come.
For ongoing clients, we provide quarterly care check-ins, proactive recommendations, and continued support from the same team you already know. Whether it’s plant health or seasonal tweaks, we’re here for the long haul.
