Landscaping is a wise investment!

Why use a landscaping service? To save time and energy? To accomplish tasks that you don’t have the tools or expertise to do yourself? To have a nice space here in Buck’s County for you and your neighbors to enjoy?

The answers to these questions should all be “yes,” but there is more to consider when using a landscape contractor. The host of HGTV’s “Curb Appeal,” John Gidding, says that a $20,000 landscape investment once boosted a house’s value by $200,000, a 1000% return. While this is likely a bit on the high end, modifying your landscape can prove financially wise if you are to ever to sell--many estimate an increase of 5% to 20% in your home’s final sale price.

Surely, $20,000 can seem a lot of money for a one-time investment. There are other, smaller investments to improve your house’s “curb appeal” and boost your home’s value. Keep in mind the influence of a first impression. Potential home buyers will approach your house from the street, so with a limited budget you should focus on the front of your home, not the back. Planting flowers, painting the front door and window frames, or trimming hedges and edging beds are simple solutions that can have a big effect on your home’s first impression.
